Our Story

n 2020, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Enduring treatment alongside my beloved wife and soulmate, we found ourselves needing to downsize and declutter our home, filled with treasures collected during our travels. In a serendipitous twist, we decided to share these vintage items on Etsy, marking the inception of Get Busy Living Shops.

What began as a practical solution soon transformed into a profound mission of giving back. Inspired by our own journey, we started visiting Estate Sales and Auctions, sourcing unique pieces to offer for sale. But it wasn't just about commerce; it was about extending a hand of kindness to those treading a similar path.

Thus, the concept of "Giving the Gift of Kindness" was born. For every $50.00 spent in our shops, we create a bespoke "Sunshine Box" for someone battling cancer. Each box is thoughtfully curated, aiming to bring a ray of light into the lives of those facing dark times. Sadly, the demand for these gestures of goodwill remains high, a stark reminder of the prevalence of this relentless disease.

Every Year, we participate in the National Brain Tumor Society's Race for Hope in Washington D.C. This year it is on Sunday May 3rd. Now through the end of April, half of all profits from sales on this site will be donated for that cause.
